GUWAHATI, Feb 2: Bodoland Progressive Front (BPF) leader Kampa Borgoyari, who was deputy to Hagrama Mohilary in the party besides serving as the deputy chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) when the BPF was in power, tendered his resignation from the party today.

Borgoyari was BPF vice-president and wielded considerable influence in party matters after party chief Mohilary.

“I do hereby tender my resignation from the Vice Presidency as well as primary membership of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), due to my inability to participate in party activities,” he stated in his resignation letter addressed to Mohilary.

“I am grateful to you, all the BPF Party leaders, and well-wishers for providing me with the opportunity to serve the people for the past twenty years as Vice President/Spokesperson of the BPF Party,” he further wrote.

“I hope that under your capable leadership, the party will continue to grow and fulfill the aspirations of the people,” he concluded in his resignation letter.

Kampa Borgoyari quitting BPF assumes significance since elections to form a new council, currently governed by the UPPL, will be held in September this year as has already been declared by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
