GUWAHATI: Forty eight new COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in Assam. Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted that 16 persons are from Karimganj, 8 from Lakhimpur, 8 from Guwahati quarantine centres, 5 from Cachar, 4 from Hailakandi, 3 from South Salmara, 2 from Nalbari and 1 each Morigaon and Goalpara.
With these cases the total number mounted to 514. On Monday, Assam witnessed 122 COVID-19 ases, which is the highest-single-day spike so far.At present there are 445 active cases in the State.
Earlier on the day, 5 patients were discharged from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) after they tested negative twice. So far, 62 patients have been discharged from hospital.
