GUWAHATI, Jan 12: Assam won its first gold medal in the ongoing 3rd Khelo India Youth Games. Puja Basumatary of Assam won the gold in the Girl’s Under-17 57 kg event.
She defeated Sneha Chauhan of Uttarakhand by 1-0 in the final held at the SAI Centre in Paltan Bazar, Guwahati.
Assam, the host State, had earlier won a silver and two bronze medals, all three going to the kitty of promising gymnast Upasa Talukdar.
