GUWAHATI, Feb 17: A Brazilian couple has entered straight into the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest marriage for any living couple.

Manoel Angelim Dino (105) and Maria de Sousa Dino (101) have been married for 84 years and 77 days, after they took the wedding vows at the chapel of Boa Ventura in Ceara, Brazil, in 1940.

Manoel, born in 1919, and Maria, who was born in 1923, first met around 1936 while working in agriculture for their families, guinnessworldrecords.com stated.

He apparently fell in love at first sight, declared his feelings for Maria to which she said yes.

After getting the approval of their respective families, Manoel and Maria tied the knot in 1940.

The couple had 13 children, whom they raised with a lot of struggle with income generated from agricultural practices.

The family grew with their children marrying and now they have been blessed with 55 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Incidentally, while Manoel and Maria hold the record for the longest living marriage, the longest marriage ever recorded was between David Jacob Hiller (born in 1789) and Sarah Davy Hiller (born in 1792), who were married for 88 years and 349 days until Sarah’s demise in 1898.
