GUWAHATI, Dec 28: Guwahati Police Thursday ruled out the involvement of miscreants in Wednesday evening’s sensational incident at Boragaon on the outskirts of Guwahati where a Class 7 girl was found dead inside their home while her father was found seriously injured.
A senior police official told News Live that Police, as per the findings of their preliminary investigation, have not established the involvement of miscreants and that their probe points to the father, who succumbed to his injuries at GMCH today morning, first hacking his daughter and later attempting suicide by injuring himself seriously.
The incident, police believe, hass been the fallout of an acute financial crisis 42-year-old Banjit Das had been facing since he had taken a large amount of money, running into several lakhs, as debt from various people but had failed to repay.
Incidentally, Police had recovered the lifeless body of 13-year-old Didiksha Das, a Class 7 student of a local school besides recovering her father Banjit Das, severely injured and bleeding profusely, from their residence at Boragaon last evening.
Banjit Das’ wife, who had gone to Nagaon to her parent’s house, raised an alarm and asked relatives and neighbours to inquire after numerous calls she made to her daughter and husband remained unanswered.
