GUWAHATI, Nov 23: After BJP candidate Diganta Ghatowal was declared the winner in Behali, AGP candidate Diptimoyee Choudhury — wife of former 8-time Bongaigaon MLA Phani Bhushan Choudhury — has made it 2-0 in favour of the BJP-led ruling alliance by defeating Congress candidate Brajenjit Singha by a margin of 34,499 votes in Bongaigaon.
An official announcement is, however, awaited.
In Begali, BJP candidate Diganta Ghatowal defeated his Congress rival Jayanta Bora by a margin of over 9,000 votes
The BJP is also leading in Dholai and Samaguri while UPPL’s Nirmal Kumar Brahma is close to defeating his BPF rival Suddho Basumatary.
Polls were held in Dholai (SC) in Barak Valley, and in Samaguri, Behali, Bongaigaon and Sidli on November 13 after legislators of these five constituencies were elected to the Lok Sabha in the general elections held in April and May this year.
