Guwahati: After a pathetic 2020 due the novel coronavirus pandemic, films have started to release in theatres. Makers have finally decided to take the risk and see if the audience is coming to the cinemas to watch their favorite stars on the big screen. March will see a number of Bollywood films trying their luck at the box office.
From Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Roohi to Parineeti Chopra’s sports biopic Saina, big Bollywood films have their stakes at the box office numbers this month.
ROOHI – MARCH 11
Directed by Hardik Mehta, Roohi is releasing on March 11. The film stars Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma in lead roles. The film comes from the makers of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s smashing hit horror-comedy Stree, which released in 2018. Previously, the film had to undergo multiple title changes. The film’s first title was Roohi Afza, which was then changed to Roohi Afzana, and now finally the makers have decided to go ahead with the title Roohi. The film was scheduled to release last year in June. However, it got delayed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
TIME TO DANCE – MARCH 12
Katrina Kaif’s sister Isabelle Kaif is making her Bollywood debut with Time To Dance. The film, which also stars Sooraj Pancholi in the lead role, is releasing on Netflix on March 12. Helmed by choreographer-turned-director Stanley D’Costa, Time To Dance is a dance film. The actors will be seen trying their hands at Ballroom and Latin dancing in the film. Remo D’Souza’s wife Lizelle D’Souza is producing Time To Dance.
FAUJI CALLING – MARCH 12
Sharman Joshi-starrer Fauji Calling is another film inspired by the 2019 Pulwama attack. Written and directed by Aaryaan Saxena, the film is releasing in theatres on March 12. It boasts of an ensemble cast, including actors like Ranjha Vikram Singh, Bidita Bag, Mahi Soni, Mugdha Godse, Zarina Wahab, and Shishir Sharma. The trailer of the film reminded us of the sacrifices of soldiers and their families for the country.
SANDEEP AUR PINKY FARAAR – MARCH 19
Directed by Dibakar Banerjee, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is releasing on March 19. The film, starring Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor, was earlier scheduled to release in March 2020, but due to the novel coronavirus pandemic it was postponed. It is a black comedy about a Haryanvi police office (Kapoor) and a corporate employee (Chopra).
MUMBAI SAGA – MARCH 19
Mumbai Saga is another Sanjay Gupta film about the underworld of Mumbai. The film is releasing on March 19 and stars John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Kajal Aggarwal, Suniel Shetty and Gulshan Grover, among others. The trailer of the film was recently released and is lbeing oved by fans.
SAINA – MARCH 26
Saina is a biopic based on the life of badminton player Saina Nehwal. It stars Parineeti Chopra in the titular role. The film is releasing on March 26. Directed by Amole Gupte, the film was earlier supposed to cast Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role. However, the makers later realised that Shraddha is not the right choice to play the badminton champ and then brought Parineeti Chopra on board.
