BJP targets 21 seats in BTC

GUWAHATI: Amid COVID-19 crisis, preparations of political parties for Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls are getting momentum. Among the total 40 seats, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded 26 candidates for the upcoming polls.

As of now, BJP has not made any formal announcement on alliance with any party for the BTC elections. Several district committees of BJP have expressed their confidence over gaining 21 seats in the elections.

The BJP district committees of four districts of Bodoland Terrritorial Area District (BTAD) are quite confident of gaining single-largest majority in BTC polls.

Kartik Boro, president of Udalguri district BJP alleged Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has been trying to mislead the people of BTAD by spreading misinformation about alliance with BJP.

He also alleged that United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has also been spreading rumours about a hidden alliance with BJP.
