The BJP is planning a tit-for-tat response to deal with protesters brought from distant places to wave black flags at BJP leaders — including Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance, Health and PWD minister Himanta Biswa Sarma — in the name of protests over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. Himanta Biswa Sarma, who expressed his anger at a particulat students’ organization for ferrying in protesters from far-off places to wave black flags besides terming such protests syndicates, said if 8-10 protesters resort to such protests, 800 BJP activists will stand up in protest.
“Till the other day, I though genuine protesters were behind these incidents. But it was only yesterday that I realized these protests are nothing but syndicates. Some organizations are bringing people from Lakhimpur to protest at Rangia and Sualkuchi. What is this?” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

“Now that we know these protests are nothing but syndicates, we have decided to give them a tit-for-tat response. If they bring 8-10 protesters to wave black waves at BJP leaders, 800 party activists will oppose such move,” Sarma added.

Incidentally, police detained several protesters waving black flags at the Assam Finance, Health and PWD Minister at Rangia yesterday (Jan 21) and at Sualkuchi today. Investigations revealed that a particular students’ organization has been mainly behind such protests and was using ‘hired protesters’, that too ferried from far-off places, to wave black flags at BJP leaders.
