GUWAHATI, Feb 6: The BJP has welcomed exit poll results that predicted a victory for the party in the national capital while the AAP, which is projected to bow out after 10 years in power, rejected the projections.
Majority of the exit polls gave BJP the edge, triggering celebrations and congratulatory messages among party leaders.
The Congress party, which was in power for three terms prior to the AAP reign, is projected to win just a couple of seats at best while majority pollcasters said it will draw a blank for the third straight term.
While Chanakya Strategies projected the BJP to win between 39 and 44 seats, it said the AAP could muster between 25 and 28 seats while the Congress could win 2-3 seats.
DV Research in its poll projected the BJP to win between 36 and 44 seats, the AAP, it said, could win between 26 and 34 seats while the Congress will draw a blank.
People’s Pulse gave BJP the biggest seat in the 70-member assembly and projected that it will win anything between 51 and 60 seats while the AAP may languish winning 10-19 seats and the Congress drawing a blank yet again.
As per NDTV’s Poll of Polls, the BJP, needing 36 for a majority in the 70-member house, should get 39 seats, AAP 30 and the Congress just a single seat.
