GUWAHATI: On the occasion of Rabha Divas, the death anniversary of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal presented Bishnu Rabha Awards 2020 to eminent artist Kandarpa Nath Sarma and danseuse Jharna Saikia for their contributions towards the cultural arena of the State. The awards were presented at a function in Dibrugarh.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said, “To preserve the immortal works of Bishnu Prasad Rabha, we are giving special attention towards the development and conservation of Kalaguru’s Samadhi Khetra and Museum in Tezpur.”
Remembering the unparalleled contribution of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha towards the Assamese society, chief minister Sonowal urged the younger generation to take leadership role in promoting the words and works of the legend across the globe.
Union minister Rameswar Teli, Assam cultural affairs minister Naba Kumar Doley and several local legislators were present in the event.
