Guwahati:  What is better than watching movies based on the lives of sporting heroes which show their grit, determination and accomplishment against the odds and that too of none of other than Sourav Ganguly’s.

BBCI president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that soon a biopic will be made on his life. The former team India captain revealed that the film will be made in Hindi, however, the director has not been confirmed yet.

While speaking to News18, Ganguly said, “Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for arranging everything.”

According to Dada, finalising of the actor is almost done and Ranbir Kapoor is the ‘hot choice’ to play the role. He, however, mentioned that two more actors are on the list as well to play his character.

It’ll reportedly be made on a budget of ₹200-250 crore.

According to the media reports, it was suggested that actor Hrithik Roshan was set to play his role in collaboration with Dharma Productions, one of India’s leading film production houses. However, neither Ganguly nor Hrithik responded to those reports. Ganguly has previously been approached by famed Bollywood filmmaker Ekta Kapoor and Fox Star Studios as well. However, the former captain was happy to decline those offers.

Further as per sources, Ganguly’s life as a youngster and becoming an international cricketer, then leading the national team before taking up various administrative roles in the cricket setup of the nation will all be shown in the movie. While the release date of the movie has not been confirmed yet, if everything goes according to the plans, the project might go underway soon, as the script is currently being worked upon and everything is streamlining on a quick basis.

Ganguly’s has been one of cricket’s most inspiring stories. He took over the mantle of captaincy in the aftermath of the fixing scandal and led a campaign to bring the nation out of the dark to take the team to historic highs.
