Biggest recruitment drive in Assam: 29,701 teachers get appointment

 GUWAHATI: In the biggest ever recruitment exercise in the State, the Assam Government distributed appointment letters to 29,701 teachers at a function at Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health, Finance, Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed the appointment letters to the teachers.
In this massive recruitment drive, posts of 16,484 teachers have been provincialised. The new appointments also include 13,217 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)-qualified candidates.
Total 4,260 educational institutes have been provincialised in this drive to improve the quality of education in the state.“Today is a day of pride and happiness for all of us. Today, two sections of teachers are present here. A section of teachers has been recognised by the government today after their long period of service and sacrifice. We have many young people present here, who have just completed their education last year or still studying. They will get the status of the government employee on the first day of their job,” said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.


Speaking on the occasion, CM Sonowal congratulated the newly-appointed teachers.
“On August 15 in the last year, I had announced appointment to the 50 thousand posts in the forthcoming days. Following that, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma with his colleague Bhabesh Kalita worked hard day and night and made this day happen. So, I would like to specially thanks Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma,” said Sonowal.
