GUIWAHATI: NEDA convenor and BJP strongman in Northeast Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is going to be the next chief minister of Assam.
Outgoing CM Sarbananda Sonowal proposed Himanta Biswa Sarma’s name as leader of BJP legislature party paving the way for Sarma to take oath as chief minister of the BJP-AGP-UPPL coalition government tomorrow.
Assam BJP president and Patacharkuchi MLA Ranjeet Dass and newly-elected BJP MLA Nandita Garlosa seconded Sarbananda Sonowal’s proposal to nominate Himanta Biswa Sarma as leader of BJP Legislature Party.
Earlier in the morning, Sarbananda Sonowal tendered his resignation as 14th chief minister of the state to Assam governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhavan.
