GUWAHATI: Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, the bard of Brahmaputra is being fondly remembered across the state on his 94th birth anniversary.
The state government has organised a programme at Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Kshetra at Jalukbari in Guwahati to pay tributes to the legendary singer.
Taking to Twitter, vice president Venkaiah Naidu stated, “Remembering the legendary singer, lyricist and composer Dr Bhupen Hazarika on his birth anniversary today. The music maestro has enthralled millions of people through his melodious songs. His baritone voice and poetic compositions still leave listeners spellbound.”

As a music maestro and multi-faceted personality, Bhupen Da enriched the lives of millions with his music compositions strengthening social harmony and universal brotherhood,” home minister Amit Shah paid rich tributes to the music maestro.
Assam governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also recalled Dr. Hazarika on his birth anniversary.
The legendary singer was born on September 8 in 1926. Hazarika who passed away on November 5 in 2011 was honoured with the prestigious Bharat Ratna posthumously in 2019.
