Guwahati, Sep 8: People of Assam and elsewhere remembered Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika on his 93rd birth anniversary with various programmes organized across the State and also in Mumbai and in other places to remember the Bard of the Brahmaputra.
Rich tributes were paid to the music maestro, also fondly called ‘Xudhakontho’. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Cultural Affairs minister Naba Doley, Union Minister Rameswar Teli, Guwahati Lok Sabha MP Queen Oja and other other senior government officials and thousands of people paid their tributes to the ‘Bharat Ratna’ at the Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Kshetra in Jalukbari.
Various programmes were also organized across the State where people offered their tributes to the legendary singer.
The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) is also organizing a special programme at Dighalipukhuri to offer tributes to the ‘Bard of the Brahmaputra’.
Xudhakontho’s fans and followers are also organizing programmes outside Assam, including special functions in Mumbai, to remember him on his birth anniversary.
