Former APCC president Bhubaneswar Kalita today (Aug 9) joined the BJP at the party’s New Delhi headquarters. Kalita joined BJP in the presence of union minister Piyush Goyal.

Bhubaneswar Kalita had resigned as member of the Rajya Sabha besides also quitting from the Congress party on Aug 5.
Kalita had said that he resigned as Rajya Sabha MP to oppose the Congress’ stand on the Kashmir developments and abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.
The former Assam Congress chief said after joining the BJP that he was impressed with the work being done by the BJP under the leadership of PM Modi and Home Minister and party president Amit Shah.
