Bangladeshi smuggler killed, BSF trooper injured after border guard fires in self defence in Tripura’s Sipahijhala

GUWAHATI, March 1: A BSF jawan sustained injuries while a Bangladeshi smuggler was killed when the BSF, guarding the India- Bangladesh border in Tripura’s Sipahijhala, had to open fire in self defence after a group of 20-25 Bangladeshi smugglers tried to infiltrated into India and assault the BSF patrol party near border pillar 2050/7-S and snatch weapons from them.

The Bangladeshi miscreants, reports said, illegally entered India near border pillar 2050/7-S in the area of Border Outpost Putia and engaged in smuggling activities.

When the BSF patrol party warned the miscreants, they attacked the troopers, seriously injuring a BSF jawan.

The miscreants allegedly made a second attempt to assault the BSF personnel and tried to snatch their weapons forcing a BSF jawan to fire in self defence.

A Bangladeshi infiltrators was killed in the firing who has been identified as Mohammed Alamin.
