Guwahati:: Evergreen star Hema Malini, fondly known as the ‘Dream Girl’ of Bollywood, turned 73 on Saturday.
Born in Tamil Nadu to a Brahmin family, the actor made her acting debut in 1963 with the Tamil film ‘Idhu Sathiyam’. Leaving a strong imprint on each one of her fans with her exemplary persona, the actor entered Bollywood in 1986 and bagged the lead role in the romantic movie ‘Sapno Ka Saudagar’ opposite veteran superstar Raj Kapoor.
From being recognised as the ‘Dream Girl’ of Bollywood for her beautiful looks to the varied characters that proved her acting mettle on the silver screen, Hema thrived to be one of the highest-paid female actors in India. With her versatility in acting, she has wowed and entertained the audience in more than 100 projects.

Sapno Ka Saudagar
Hema Malini made her debut in ‘Sapno Ka Saudagar’ and she won millions of heart with her very first film in Bollywood. The film also starred the biggest names of the industry. Before Hema Malini, actress Vyjayanthimala was offered the role but since she refused to do it, Hema got the golden chance.
Johny Mera Naam
The 1970 crime thriller movie ‘Johny Mera Naam’ in which Hema Malini played the character named Rekha became the classic movie of all time. Directed by Vijay Anand, the film featured Dev Anand, Hema Malini and Pran. It also starred Jeevan, Premnath, I. S. Johar and Iftekhar. This blockbuster hit was the highest grossing Bollywood film of 1970.
Sholay
The classic Ramesh Sippy directorial movie ‘Sholay’ must be the one that no one might have missed. The star cast, dialogues, songs and stunt scenes made this film the best in the history of Indian cinema. Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Amjad Khan and Jaya Bhaduri played a phenomenal role in the film.
Satte Pe Satta
The 1982 released movie ‘Satte pe Satta’ is adapted from 1954 movie ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’. The superstars featured in this action comedy film were Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Amjad Khan, Ranjeeta Kaur, Sachin, Shakti Kapoor, Paintal, Sudhir, Inderjeet, Sarika, Kanwaljit Singh, Prema Narayan, Mac Mohan and Kalpana Iyer amongst others. The song Dilbar Mere is an unforgettable soundtrack that was sung by Kishore Kumar and Annette Pinto.
Seeta Aur Geeta
This is a 1972 comedy-drama that stars Hema Malini, Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar. This film is about two identical twin sisters, played by Hema Malini.
Dream Girl
