GUWAHATI, Nov 4: At least 20 people have died while many more are injured, a few of them seriously, after a 45-seater passenger bus traveling from Garhwal to Kumaon in Uttarakhand fell into a deep gorge at Marchula in Almora district today morning.
State Police and SDRF personnel have launched a search and rescue operation while the injured were rushed to local hospitals, authorities said.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief at the loss of lives in the accident and said the district administration has been instructed to conduct relief and rescue operations swiftly.
“Received very sad news of casualties of passengers in the unfortunate bus accident that took place in Marchula of Almora district. The district administration has been instructed to conduct relief and rescue operations swiftly,” he said on X.
