Guwahati: Assam’s daredevil lady police officer Junmoni Rabha has arrested her own fiance under charges of cheating.
Junmoni, who is known for her commitment to work, has arrested her fiancé Rana Pogag after he falsely claimed to be an officer of the ONGC and proposed to get married to Junmoni.
Moreover, Rana Pogag had also allegedly duped people of crores, promising them a job and contract at the ONGC. After knowing about his intent, Junmoni herself filed an FIR against Rana Pogag and arrested him later.
Meanwhile, the police have seized fake seals and documents of the ONGC from Pogag’s possession. He has been put in 2-day police custody.
“In January 2021, I met him and later made the marriage proposal. We got engaged once the family agreed. I had just newly posted in Nagaon. But there was something about him and his work that gradually sparked doubts. I am grateful to the three people who came to me with information about him (Rana Pogag) on how big a fraud he is. They opened my eyes,” said Junmoni Rabha.
It may be mentioned here that earlier in January Junmoni Rabha had hit the headlines after a leaked phone call of Bihpuria MLA Amiya Kumar Bhuyan yelling at Junmoni and allegedly asking her to digress from her official responsibilities spread like wildfire on social media.
Junmoni had then refused to buckle and instead questioned the MLA as to how he could ask a police officer to break the rules being a representative of the people.
