Guwahati: Assam, on Tuesday, achieved another milestone by administering more than 5-crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine under the nationwide vaccination drive.
According to reports, the administration of 5 crore doses includes 2,47,73,929 crore doses as the first dose, while, 2,20,20,263 doses as the second and 32,11,055 as precaution dose.
Hailing the health department, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter saying, “Five crore vaccination doses completed in #Assam! Another major milestone in the state’s fight against #COVID19. My gratitude to our dedicated team of healthcare & frontline personnel for making this possible.A big thanks to all for believing in us and volunteering for the process.”

It may be mentioned that India began the administration of COVID-19 vaccines on 16 January 2021.
As of 1 August 2022, India has administered over 2.04 billion doses overall, including first, second and precautionary (booster) doses of the currently approved vaccines.
In India, 94% of the eligible population (12+) has received at least one shot, and 86% of the eligible population (12+) is fully vaccinated.
