Assam’s COVID-19 count reaches 55496, death toll rises to 132

GUWAHATI: With the addition of 2679 new COVID-19 cases in Assam, the COVID-19 count in the state mounted to 55496 on Friday. Total 58531 tests were conducted in the state on Friday.

“Positivity rate continues to be low at 4.57%,” mentioned health minister Dr. Himantta Biswa Sarma in a tweet.

On the other hand, six more patients succumbed to the infection today. With this the death toll reached 132.

“Six more COVID patients succumbed to their infections today~ Late Praban Kumar Agarwala (57) of Dhubri, Late Sita Devi (56) of K’jhar, Late Renu Gogoi (60) of D’garh, Late Samar Deb (61) of Cachar, Late Abdul Gofur (68) of Nagaon & Late Nilmani Chakraborty (69) of Kamrup (M),” Dr. Sarma tweeted.

Keeping the excellent recovery rate, 1585 more patients were discharged from different hospitals and COVID Care Centres in Assam today. At present the number of active cases stands at 16552 with 38809 recoveries.
