Guwahati: Deputy speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Aminul Haque Laskar has tested COVID-19 positive on Tuesday. Haque who represents Sonai constituency has been admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) after his swab test report had come positive.
The driver of the deputy speaker has also tested positive for COVID-19.
“With a very sad heart I would like to inform that I have been tested Covid-19 positive from the first swab sample test few minutes back. I was not feeling well was since morning. I would also tell that my all other family members have tested negative. Those who have came into my contact from the last 1 week, please isolate yourself and get yourself covid tested,” Laskar wrote on Facebook.
Earlier MLAs Krishnendu Paul, Bolin Chetia, Narayan Deka, Nabanita Handique and Atul Bora (Senior) tested positive for COVID-19.
