Former six-time Congress MLA and minister Gautam Roy and former Rajya Sabha MP Santiuse Kujur joined the BJP today (Aug 11), a day after the duo resigned from the Congress party.

Roy, who had also been a cabinet minister during the third term of the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress Government, had announced his decision to join the BJP after quitting the Congress party yesterday.
Former Assam Pradesh Youth Congress president Hiranya Bhuyan also donned saffon robes along with Roy and Kujur.
Assam Finance, Health and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass and several other party leaders were present when the trio joined the BJP at the State party headquarters at Hengerabari, Guwahati.
