Security forces and the Assam Police launched multiple operations in different locations of Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday and managed to rescue a kidnapped JCB driver. The police also nabbed a KPLT (Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger) militant.
Earlier in an operation the Assam Police arrested a hardcore militant identified as Jio Tungjang alias Monsing Tokbi and recovered one 7.65 mm pistol, one magazine, five live rounds, and a cell phone from him. Jio Tungjang claims to be the vice president of KPLT (anti-talks faction).
Based on the inputs provided by the KPLT militant, a police team led by Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police Gaurav Kumar Upadhyaya and Additional Superintendent of Police Indranil Baruah launched an operation.
The Assam police team had multiple encounters with the militants who were on the run. After a gun battle in Tisom village in Bakaliaghat, Karbi Anglong the police recovered a point 22 pistol, one magazine and three live rounds of ammunition.
The JCB driver Abil Hussain Laskar who had been reportedly kidnapped has been finally rescued during the operation. Laskar was picked up by the militants a week ago from Bakaliaghat area. Abil Hussain Laskar is a resident of Udarbandh, Silchar.
