Guwahati: A woman was allegedly killed by her in-laws for giving birth to a girl child in Assam’s Karimganj district.
The incident occurred in the Bhairabnagar area under the Karimganj district.
The woman allegedly died after being forced to consume acid by her husband and in-laws.
According to sources, the woman was subjected to the crime by her husband and her in-laws for failing to give birth to a son.
The deceased has been identified as Sumna Begum.
Following the incident, the accused husband, identified as Shakeel Ahmed, was taken into police custody.
The victim woman was taken immediately to a nearby hospital, but she succumbed during treatment.
