Assam: Two forest officials arrested on bribery charges in Kokrajhar


Guwahati: The team of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Friday arrested a forester grade B and forest guard in Gossaigaon in Assam’s Kokrajhar on bribery charges.

The arrested forester was identified as Kamini Narzary, while the forest guard was identified as Prabin Brahma.

Both have been trapped and were caught while accepting demanded money for regularising a forest case, said the official.

“Sri Kamini Narzary Forester Grade B & Sri Prabin Brahma Forest Guard have been trapped and arrested red-handed today by team of @DIR_VAC_ASSAM while accepting demanded money for regularising a forest case at Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar”, Assam Special DGP, GP Singh tweeted.

The vigilance wing of the state government has caught several state government employees red-handed while taking bribes.

Recently, the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption has sent a message to police officers across Assam informing them that a close watch is being kept on personal integrity alongside professional performance at all levels.
