Assam: Two detained after Bajrang Dal organises arms training camp at school in Mangaldoi

Assam police have detained two people in the case relating to arms training given by Bajrang Dal to around 350 youths of the state at Maharishi Vidya Mandir, school in Darrang district of Mangaldoi

The detained persons have been identified as Bijoy Ghosh from Mangaldoi’s Ward number 4 and Gopal Boro from Dimakusi. 

The actions were taken by the Assam police after a case was registered in connection with the arms training programme organised by the Bajrang Dal.

It is to be mentioned here that earlier on August 1, police detained two more persons related to the case.

The arrested person identified as Hemanta Payeng is the president of the school’s managing committee and Ratan Das, however, they were released on bail.

According to reports, arms and weapons training was given to at least 400 youths from different parts of Assam in the programme organised by Rashtriya Bajrang Dal.

The four-day training exercise began on July 27 and culminated on Sunday (July 30).

The arms training camp of the Bajrang Dal was organised at a school campus in Mangaldoi under Darrang district of Assam, which is located only 100 kilometre away from state capital Guwahati.

Besides arms training, the participating youths were also given training in martial arts, swords, survival skills, hand-to-hand combat and Vedic rituals.

According to sources, retired personnel of central armed forces imparted training to the participating youths of Assam.
