Assam to vaccinate 3rd dose of COVID vaccine to healthcare workers from Jan 10: CM Sarma

Guwahati: The Assam Government announced to vaccinate the 3rd dose of COVID-19 vaccine to doctors, health workers, Anganbadi workers, front line workers as precautionary dose irrespective of their age from January 10, 2022.

Informing the same, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said,”3rd dose of COVID-19 vaccine will be given to doctors, health workers, Anganbadi workers, Asha workers, Police officials, CRPF personnel’s and other front line workers as precautionary dose irrespective of their age from 10th January, 2022. 

The Chief Minister also added, ” Senior Citizens of 60 years and above with comorbidities who have received two doses of Covid-19 vaccine and on the completion of 9 months from the date of administration of 2nd dose, on doctor’s advice will be provided with a precaution dose from 10th January 2022. I urge all such senior citizens to come forward and take the 3rd dose of vaccine against COVID-19.  This 3rd dose will help them to keep themselves safe from the new COVID-19 variant.” 

Meanwhile, The Assam government has set up nearly 20 Covid vaccination centres in each district of the state to jab those in the 15 to 18-year age group as the state faces a Herculean task to cover about three lakh children everyday to fulfill the target of vaccinating all eligible teens by January 9.
