Assam: Three from a family die of food poisoning in Duliajan

Guwahati: In a tragic incident, food poisoning has claimed the lives of 3 members of the same family in Duliajan. The incident took place at Kalyanpur village under Bhadai police station.

The deceased have been identified as Sanjay Panika (36), his wife Atula Panika (28) and Sanjay’s first wife’s daughter Deepa Baraik (20). Luckily, Sanjay Panika’s minor son and daughter were not poisoned.

According to the reports, three members of the family fell sick after vomiting in the morning.  As condition worsened they were admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Adarsh Hospital in Tengakhat.

However, for better treatment, the doctors of Mahatma Gandhi Adarsh Hospital referred the patients to Assam Medical College & Hospital, Dibrugarh.

One of the patients died at the Tengakhat Hospital while two others died at the Dibrugarh Medical College.

Dibrugarh Police said that the actual cause of death could be ascertained only after a post-mortem examination of the body.
