GUWAHATI: Every year, thousands of animals are killed or abandoned in India for different reasons. A group of youth from Tezpur, Assam has come up with a cause to help such stray animals.

This group has formed an organisation ‘The Voice- Animal Welfare’ an initiative of UCI Foundation. The organisation is working in various ways to help the street dogs, providing them with care and regular food. Along with food, the organisation is also putting reflective collars that are visible from a distance.

They have taken this initiative to make the dogs visible at dark to minimize the chances of accidental death or injury.

“We started on 2nd of October 2019. We are a Tezpur-based organisation. We mainly rescue animals. We have also rescued monkeys and eagles. We also have a branch in Dhekiajuli. Currently, we have a team of 15 people in Tezpur and our Dhekiajuli team comprises of 13 members. The Voice- Animal Welfare is a self-funded organisation  and till date, we have got funding from different people and organisations who support our cause,” said the founder of the NGO, Raj Sahani in a telephonic conversation.

Sahani said that donations are welcome and if anyone wants to support they can donate through Google Pay/ Paytm in 9085181638 or call them over the phone.
