Assam: Students attend schools with consent letters from parents

GUWAHATI: The students from class 9 to 12 attended schools in Assam with written permission from their parents. Assam government allowed reopening of schools from Monday maintaining all COVID-19 protocols.

After more than six months, the students attended the schools wearing face mask and bringing sanitiser with them as a preventive measure against Coronavirus infection. Educational institutes in Assam were closed on March 15 due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The temperatures and oxygen levels of the students and teachers were tested before they had entered the school premises. Consent letters from guardians have been made mandatory for attending the offline classes.

“It is a great pleasure to attend the school after a long gap. Today we felt happy to put on the uniform after six months,” said a student.

They informed News Live that COVID-19 protocols set by the government have been maintained.

“Our studies were affected by COVID-19. Now, we are restarting afresh,” said another student.

However, many schools in the state witnessed low attendance on the first day of reopening.

“Today not a single student has come. But all the teachers have resumed duties. We have kept everything ready including thermal scanner, oximeter and sanitiser,” said a teacher.

On the other hand, some students were sent back for coming without consent letters of the parents and masks.
