Guwahati: Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday inaugurated a special ICU ward at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital along with Pijush Hazarika , minister of state for health and family welfare department and IAS officer Samir K Sinha.
Meanwhile, the total number of ICU in GMCH has increased from 75 to 162 in a week’s time.
Dr. Sarma shared the news through his official twitter handle and congratulated GMCH for their stupendous work in building up an ICU ward within such a shot span of time. The special ICU ward have 50 beds.

The Assam Government has turned GMCH into a dedicated COVID-19 hospital. As of now the total number of Coronavirus positive cases in Assam is 16.
