Guwahati: Assam recorded 706 new COVID-19 cases, the second highest single-day spike in the last five months and one person died due to the infection in the past 24 hours, according to the National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin on Friday.
The 706 new cases were detected from 6,334 tests conducted. The positivity rate stood at 11.15 percent.

Meanwhile, the recovery rate stood at 98.43 percent.
Dhubri reported the highest number of 66 cases, followed by 62 in Dibrugarh and 34 in Kamrup(M.
The state’s overall death toll increased to 6,646, with 0.92 percent of fatality rate.
