Assam records second case of Omicron

Guwahati: Assam records its second Omicron positive case after a 13 year old boy tested positive for the variant in Meghalaya where he have gone for vacation.

Now, a 35 year old man, a Saudi Arabia returnee from Hojai tested positive for omicron today.

The patient has been identified as Mohd. Mamood Hussain who returned from Saudi Arabia. 

Incidentally, both the persons who have contracted the Omicron variant Of COVID have already tested negative. 

This was informed by Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta. 

On Tuesday, 475 new Coronivirus (Covid-19) cases has been detected in Assam on January 4, which is an increase of 124 new cases as compared to the total 351 cases detected on Monday.

The new cases have been detected out of a total of 36,781 tests done in the last 24 hours. A total of 190 cases have been detected in Kamrup (metro) and three new Covid deaths have also been reported.
