Assam records 273 new COVID19 cases in last 24 hours

Guwahati:  A total of 273 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Assam on Thursday (July 7), the highest in nearly five months.

The state recorded 294 cases on February 10, 2022.

The new cases were detected out of 2,631 tests that were conducted during the day.

The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 10.38 per cent on Thursday.

Among the fresh cases, highest number of cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (100), followed by Kamrup Rural (46), Dibrugarh (24) and Darrang (17).

The daily fresh cases of coronavirus, which had dipped to zero in the State on March 10, is showing an upward trend since the last few weeks.

Earlier on Wednesday (July 6), 196 cases were reported in the state.

With the addition of fresh cases, the total number of active cases in the state now stands at 1,138.

Meanwhile, India reported 18,815 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.
