Assam ranks 4th in New York Times’ top-52 places to visit in 2025

GUWAHATI, Jan 9: The New York Times has listed Assam in the top-52 places to visit this year and has been ranked an impressive 4th in the prestigious list.

The recognition celebrates the state’s unspoiled natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and historical monuments that date back to thousands of years.

Described by the New York Times as a “remote, culturally distinct, and comparatively crowd-free region that hangs as if by a thread from the country’s mainland,” Assam offers an unparalleled experience for travellers seeking serenity and authenticity.

The accolade comes at a time when Assam is already making headlines globally.

While the Charaideo Maidam has been included in United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)’s World Heritage List, the Kaziranga National Park recently broke the record for highest tourist footfall.
