Assam: President Murmu arrives in Jorhat

President of India Droupadi Murmu landed in Assam’s Rowriah Airport in Jorhat district on Thursday afternoon to embark on her three-day visit to the state.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Governor Gulab Chand Kataria welcomed her at the Airport.

Taking to Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Welcome to Assam, Adarniya Rashtrapati ji. We are so honoured to have your august presence and blessings.@rashtrapatibhvn @Gulab_kataria

President Murmu is on her three-day visit to Assam scheduled to attend Kaziranga Gaj Utsav as chief guest.

During her three-day visit to the state, President Murmu inaugurates the Gaj Utsav-2023 at the Kaziranga National Park. Later at Guwahati, she will flag off the Mount Kanchenjunga Expedition-2023.  

On the same day, the President will grace the function being organized to mark the completion of 75 years of the Gauhati High Court at Guwahati. She will also address the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Gauhati High Court on April 7. 

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Sandeep Kataria, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will also be present at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the High Court.

As per reports, president Murmu will be flying to Jorhat in a special IAF aricraft following which she will spend the night at Kohora forest range in Kaziranga national park tonight. 

This will be President Murmu’s second visit to the state after assuming the highest constitutional position in the country in July 2022.
