Assam Police to file case against people not wearing masks at public places

GUWAHATI: Assam Police will file case against people not wearing a face mask at public places. Police will also take stern action against persons spitting at public places and not maintaining social distancing norms in the view of COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing media persons in Guwahati, director general of police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said, “We will register case against people not covering their mouth at a public place. Besides the provisions under Disaster Management Act, cases will be registered under section 269/270 of IPC.”

Mahanta also warned that police will register case against people spitting at public place or not following social distancing norms.
