Assam police seized 800 grams heroin from Guwahati, Dibrugarh

Guwahati: Continuing its drive against drugs the Assam Police in two separate cases, seized a total of 800 grams of heroin form Guwahati and Dibrugarh respectively.  

On Monday morning a special squad of  Guwahati Police led by Joint commissioner of Police (JCP) Partha Mahanta seized 0.5 Kg Heroin from Inter-State Bus Terminus in the city. 

The Guwahati Police apprehended a drug peddler from the spot.  

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the efforts of the city police for their another major breakthrough in their mission against drugs. 

Taking to Twitter Chief Minister Sarma wrote, “#AssamAgainstDrugs Another major breakthrough in @assampolice‘s drive against drugs. @GuwahatiPol hits the supply chain as a special squad led by JCP Partha Mahanta seized 0.5 Kg Heroin at ISBT, Ghy. An important member of network is also arrested. Keep up the good work .”

 

In a another  similar case Assam Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 292 grammes of heroin worth Rs 80 lakh in Dibrugarh’s Kalibari railway colony, Assam on Sunday evening.

The arrested accused has been identified as Buli Dey.

According to the sources, the operation was headed by deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) Archarjya Jibon and officer in charge of Dibrugarh police station Terong.

 

As per official, we executed a raid after receiving a specific information and recovered contraband drugs from the Kalibari railway colony, as well as arrested a drug peddler.

Meanwhile, Further investigation is going on, official added.
