Assam Police rescues 40 children from Sikkim

Guwahati: In a major breakthrough Assam Police rescued 40 children and two adults from the clutches of human traffickers in Sikkim. The children mostly hail from Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in Assam.

Assam Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the Assam Police in rescuing the minors from the hands of a human trafficking gang. 

Talking to the media persons in Guwahati CM Sarma said, “I hail Assam team led by Special DGP LR Bishnoi and Chirang SP Gaurav Upadhaya for having displayed exemplary professional skills in rescuing 40 children and 2 adults from the clout of Human traffickers”.

He also stated that the mastermind of the racket Krishna Yogi has been arrested.

“Total 80 children were taken to Sikkim. A few were trafficked to Dubai in the last 2 years”, CM Sarma added. 

CM Sarma also stated, “We have decided to either hand over the children to their parents or send them to residential schools as per the recommendations of the Child Welfare Committee to ensure a better future for them and the CMO will closely monitor the case”.
Assam Govt is firm in its resolve to not allow the heinous act of trafficking of women and children. The government shall come down heavily on perpetrators of such crimes and hunt them down from whichever part of the world they are in, stated CM Sarma.
