Assam Police recovers drugs worth Rs 12 crore in Karbi Anglong, arrests 3 including 2 Tamil women

GUWAHATI: In a major breakthrough, Assam Police on Monday night seized three kg of drugs worth Rs 12 crore in Karbi Anglong district from the possession of two women from Tamil Nadu and a bus driver who hails from Manipur.

The drug was seized from a Guwahati-bound night super bus bearing registration number MN06B-0511 at a check gate under Dilai Police Station.  The bus was travelling from Moreh in Manipur.

He also stated that the home guard who first intercepted the bus was offered a huge amount of bribe not to conduct the search.

“Our home guard was offered a huge amount of bribe not to conduct the search. His name is Borsing Bey. He denied the offer, stopped the vehicle and informed the nearby checking party. I have talked to him and announced a reward,” Mahanta said.

The home guard will be awared with Rs 1 lakh.

On Thursday last week, Karbi Anglong Police recovered a huge amount of drugs in the hill district.

Police recovered 2.12 kg heroin with an estimated value of Rs 7 crore in the international market from a Dimapur-based woman.
