GUWAHATI: Assam Police on Sunday seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Kokrjahar under Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD). The arms, ammunition and explosives were kept hidden in the jungle area of Shantipur under Kachugaon Police Station.
It may be noted that Assam Police has been carrying relentless drives against illegal arms in the BTAD area ahead of crucial Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections. The area is currently under the governor’s rule as elections were postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
In recent times, arms and ammunition were recovered in all the BTAD districts which include Chirang, Kokrajhar, Baksa and Udalguri.
