The Assam police recovered 4 gold pieces, weighing about 1 kg and worth Rs 58 lakh, from two suspected smugglers, officers informed on Wednesday.
“We recovered 4 gold pieces weighing about 1 kg worth Rs 58 lakh from the possession of two persons. In a separate operation, we recovered 5 packets of suspected opium, weighing approximately 4.89 kg and valued at Rs 25 lakh,” said Prasenjit Das from Government Railway Police (GRP), Guwahati.
Further investigation was underway.
