GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday distributed appointment letters to 597 Sub-inspectors (SI) in Assam Police at a function held at Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium of Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati.
“I am proud that today we have completed the largest #SIsRecruitment process, a clean, transparent drive that once again strengthens our resolve of a Corruption Free Assam,” Sonowal said.
“I believe the newly recruited SIs will give their best in service of the people and help us create a more peaceful Assam and a smarter @assampolice. You have shown that merit is the norm for Assam and you will be glowing examples for the youth and the society,” he added.

On the other hand, international athlete Hima Das was appointed as the deputy superintendent of police at the same event.
The programme was also attended by Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua and a host of other dignitaries.
