Guwahati: On Durga Puja, CM Sarma goes pandal hopping; prays for people’s safety & well-being

GUWAHATI, Oct 10: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma went pandal hopping and offered his prayers before Goddess Durga and sought the well-being of the State and its people.

While Chief Minister Sarma visited as many as 15 pandals in Azara, Garal, Dharapur, Kahikuchi, Lankeswar and Sundarbori on the outskirts of Guwahati city on Maha Sasthi yesterday, he paid a visit to as many as 26 puja pandals on Maha Saptami today.

“I offer my Puja wishes to the people of Assam. May the Goddess bestow her blessengs on each and everyone,” Sarma said.

Chief Minister Sarma, on the other hand, did not disappoint the devotees gathered at the pandals during his visit and took selfies with them.

Meanwhile, a festive atmosphere engulfed the State as Durga Puja festivities began on Wednesday on Maha Sasthi as the idols of Goddess Durga and the other dieties were placed at the altar.

Puja pandals built with special themes and modelled on several iconic structures are attracting devotees as large crowds were seen ever since the start of the festivities.
