Kati Bihu or Kongali Bihu is being observed today across the State to mark the beginning of a new harvest. People light earthen lamps at the foot of the household tulsi plant, paddy fields and pray for a good harvest.
The Kati Bihu falls in the Assamese month of Kati and in the month of mid-October. As per the Assamese calendar this is the second Bihu.
People on the outskirts of Jorhat city- Saraibahi village, performed ‘Naam’ to observe the occasion.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took to his twitter handle and wished all the people on the occasion.
