GUWAHATI: In order to decrease positivity and mortality rates in the state, Assam will not allow home quarantine to COVID-19 patients of any age group with any comorbidity.

It was decided in a health department review meeting in Guwahati on Friday. The meeting was chaired by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in the presence of health minister Keshab Mahanta.

CM Sarma in a tweet stated all patients with comorbidity would be sent to institutional quarantine.

“To bring positivity and mortality rates further down, Covid patients of any age group with any comorbidity will be kept in institutional quarantine,” he wrote.

The chief minister also directed the health department to fix the rates of COVID treatment in private hospitals of the state.

“Issued instructions to fix the rates for #COVID19 treatment in private hospitals. Affordable rates have been fixed for both general & super-speciality wards,” he added.
