Assam: New COVID-19 patients came from Chennai

GUWAHATI: Assam on Monday reported two COVID-19 positive cases taking the state’s tally to 102. According to reports, two 20-year old youths who had come from Chennai have been detected with COVID-19. The youths identified as Ajijul Haque from Juria in Nagaon district and Sudip Borgohain from Titabor in Jorhat district were under facility quarantine after their return.

The migrant workers returned to Assam a few days ago. According to reports, the COVID-19 patient from Titabor was working as a security guard in Chennai.

On the other hand, a 71-year-old COVID-19 patient died owing to respiratory distress at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati at 11.05 AM. The man, a neck cancer patient had returned from Mumbai. He tested positive for COVID-19 after his return to Assam.

So far Assam has reported 102 COVID-19 positive cases and 3 deaths. There are 56 active cases in the state as 41 patients  have been discharged from hospitals after they recovered from the disease. Two patients have migrated to other states.
